CARERS ANONYMOUS
CARERS ANONYMOUS
Whilst we believe it is essential to share what we are going through, we are also aware that positivity begets positivity. Hearing how someone else is managing to get through the dark days may be inspirational for us, and give us what we need to carry on.
For those caring for others with disabilities
It can be very tough and lonely looking after someone with a disability.
Carers Anonymous is a 12-Step Fellowship for men and women whose lives are, or have been affected by someone else’s mental and/or physical disability.
Many carer support groups already meet to share experiences, but this program focuses us on sharing our strength and hope too.
We find hope and identification by sharing our stories in the safety of an anonymous gathering, and begin to realise our need to reach out for help.
The program and literature have been adapted from the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and it is a program for our spiritual development, no matter what our religious beliefs.
